There aims are to:
- To keep content that could harm offence or create harming risks in a film to protect the public, specifically children.
- To allow parents and members of the publice to make viewing decisions, if its appropriate etc.
- The help adults have the freedom to respect and recognise choice within the law.
- respond to and reflect changing social attitudes towards media content through proactive public consultation and research.
- provide a cost-effective, efficient classification service within our statutory remit
- work in partnership with the industry to develop innovative service models to provide content advice which support emerging media delivery systems
- provide an effective service to enforcement agencies
Copyright - Is the protecting of someones work, which could either be a film, music, poems, books or artwork. That means the public are unable to use or copy a autors work without permission and if done so they would be fined and marked with Copyrighting. "It is a type of intellectual property that provides exclusive publication, distribution, and usage rights for the author" In other words no one eles are allowed to use someone eles work.Copyright is also used on internet websites, meaning that any content that has been published on the specific sites are completely protected by copyright law. For example, websites that are specifically themed such as Art, Photography or Music websites mean that if you went to copy or save a image on to your computer depending on whether the website has been protective. This makes it unavailable to copy or save as the person or company that has posted wants the content to be protected.There has been a increase in websites protecting their content as it is very easy, simple and quick to copy, paste or save. A fact of Copyrighting is that the protection that the author lasts for there whole life (unless stoped) until 50 to 100 years after their death. Performing Rights - Means that artists are allowed and have the right to perform their music or others in public, which is tied in with the copyrighting law. This means that people who intend to perform music in public must pay the original artist or composer which will be equally split between the two, 50/50. Public performance is simply that a single musician or band who are not the holder of the piece of music they are perfroming will have to have performing rights before it is acceptable for them to sing or play music in public. Performing iin public is anywhere where the public can see or hear, being on street, concerts, restaurants or nightclubs. Public performance is also associated with a live song being broadcasted on radio or television which needs permission and rights to perform the original artists work in public, which will be dealt with by the collective rights organization.
